Christian Siriano and the Future Payless Shoes
Season four Project Runway winner Christian Siriano will be collaborating with Payless Shoes to create designer handbags and shoes without the designer price tag.
The 23 year old fashion designer (who uses the word fierce in every other sentence) was set to debut the line with his fall 2009 collection during New York fashion week. Well the day has come and did he deliver the fierceness?
Christian’s inspiration comes from Ancient Egypt and the line is full of beige, browns and dodge blue. I can definitely see the colour references (desert, pyramids and possibly Cleopatra’s blue eyeshadow - was it even blue?) and some of the dresses are awesome. Regard:

Love the blue tulip dress (not so much the top part, though).

The blue dress reminds me of Kiss’ Fab Friday wish item, the Origami dress by Michael Kors.
Anyway, let’s get back to the Payless collaboration! The shoes and boots have blue soles (from what I can see in pictures) and it has that modern punk touch with the mini spikes (Rodarte reference possibly?) and chains.

They are pretty damn fierce and I would definitely rock the chains and spikes. I’m not sure about the blue boots, but the brown pumps are a yes for me! I can’t wait for more close up shots of other shoes and bags but I’m liking what I see thus far.
The shoes will be available this fall at Payless stores across Canada for $50 - $70 CAD. Not bad at all!
So did Christian Siriano deliver?
He sure did.
What do you guys think of the shoes?!

The shoes: I’m all for the chains and spikes, they absolutely scream ‘attitude.’ But I would have to say I’m not a fan. The fit, specifically the shoe to the far left, doesn’t look crisp and sleek. I would have to say it ALMOST looks closer to trashy. Also, I don’t see the Ancient Egyptian inspiration in this one. Sorry.
The Line: Though only the full length gowns appeal to me, I do adore the colour pallet of the entire line. Overall, I can see how these designs could win over others but I think Christian Siriano could do better.

haha, but wouldn’t you say they are pretty nice for payless shoes?
