Britney and LGFW…just like a circus

If you seek Britney, you could have found her at the Air Canada Centre the previous two nights as part of her Circus tour. That’s where yours truly was, unfortunately missing a lot of the shows on day four of LGFW. Entries about the Aime Luxury and Nada shows are on the way!
But as I was at the ACC watching the Pussycat Dolls and Britney, my mind wandered to fashion yet again. I remembered that Canadian designers Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared2 designed the costumes.
A quick summary of the costumes? Pasties, feathers, fishnets, sequins, skin and stockings galore.
The first sketch is from her first act, when she descends from the air in a ring as the ringleader. Notice the exaggerated shoulders with strands of black hair. Animal, human or synthetic? I’m not sure. She’s also accessorized with an Agent Provacateur Swarovski diamante-encrusted whip, which costs $225 (not sure if I’d want to actually whip someone with it with that price point)!!!
The second is from her performance of Piece of Me. Not much to analyse. Bustier, cage…seen it all before.
And this is her finale outfit when she performed Womanizer. She played a hot cop fighting for feminist justice!!!
And voila, here are some of the dancers’ costumes. Some of them remind me of Madonna’s Confessions Tour.
All of this stuff is very DSqaured2, with their sort of strong woman dominatrix aesthetic that they did for spring 2007 years ago.
The Canadian twins are even featured alongside Perez Hilton in the concert’s intro video!
