WILLIAM RAST

I am ashamed to say this but I did not know of William Rast until about a year ago. =\ *head bows down*
For all of you who do not know what William Rast is, it is a fashion line that was founded by the amazing and sexy Justin Timberlake and his best friend, Tracy Ayalya.
William Rast’s name is a testament to Justin and Trace’s Tennessee roots; “William” is the first name of Timberlake’s grandfather and “Rast” the last of Trace Ayala’s grandfather.

They launched William Rast in October 06 at the L.A Fashion Week showing off their Spring 07 line. Since then, W.R has been appearing in the L.A and N.Y fashion week for the past few years.
Justin Timberlake plays the role of the famous William Rast. And we all know the main character must have a sexy associate on his side; model Erin Wasson plays his girlfriend.
I apologize for not knowing the entire story of William Rast but by examining their trailers, it seems that William Rast is this bad ass who is on the run for doing something terribly, terribly bad.
They advertise their line with movie trailers, which is something I have yet to see among other fashion lines.
William Rast is known for their denim collection but they do offer special pea coats, vests, shirts and sweaters. Their line is known to be very versatile. They want their consumers to understand their line is made to be worn dressy or casual.

Every denim company has their own signature “pocket stitching”. William Rast’s pocket stitching is a “v” shaped stitch with a slash through.
The reason I decided to write about William Rast is because… well of course, for their denim line. We all know I love denim, hence the name, DenimDee. Considering my current budget and the fact that the jeans are above average prices, it doesn’t hurt to have an idea of what is out there and prepare myself for a near-future shopping spree. I wanted to write about William Rast because I was unfamiliar with the line and was interested in what they had to offer. I am not sure how they fit but I will try them (hopefully this week) and keep you updated.

I’ve never noticed how picky of a person I am when it comes to the fade; it cannot be too green or too brown. It cannot look too washed out causing it to look like you sat in chalk. I am, however, impressed with W.R’s fades. Most of their denim are dark washed (my ultimate favourite) and dark denim with a dark wash puts an outfit together easier.
Many people wear expensive jeans because of the label. I believe it is important on how one feels in that particular pair of denim. I do spend a tad more on denim than an average person but I always ensure I feel comfortable. Denim purchases are the only purchases I am always satisfied with, never second guessing when the transaction has been completed. That is how everyone should feel after every purchase. We should feel proud of what we purchased and have no regrets.

I will not lie, I love the men’s line. This is the style (I think) guys look attractive in. But only a few guys can really work it. Why is that? I adore Justin Timberlake’s sense of style. He is the one who made the three piece suit into a casual outfit and the one who brought back the skinny ties and made it work. In conclusion, he is he one who brought sexy back.
haha. But in all seriousness, he is one of the few men who can look amazing in just about anything. He can rock the cardigan as if he was in private school but yet make it look so fly.

The William Rast line consists of neutral and calm colours. I like the line because it is simple but it is not difficult to make ’slight’ alterations to turn the outfit from a day outfit to a night outfit. I have not seen a pair of denim that has disappointed me yet. They have a lot of nice pea coats and tops that I am keeping in mind but once again, winter is now over and I am too broke. I recommend everyone to have a look at the line.

The trailer reminds me of the Bonnie and Clyde theme.
I loveeee the black jacket for women and I agree, the men’s collection is hot!

the majority of the collection looks pretty good especially the womens jackets.
i’m not feeling that men’s cardigan though…looks overly huge and something that JayZ wears.
i like the washes of the jeans as well and especially the subtleness of the pocket designs on the arse.

I have a pair of WR which I bought when they first came out and haven’t bought a pair since….you can get a much better fit and feel from some of the other labels around the same price.

I find the waist in the women’s William Rast’s too large compared to the hip. Not for curves! If they fit my bum then I can fit a fist in the waist band. Maybe if you have no butt and a fat belly they will work.

Kim: I’ve never tried any of William Rast’s things - thanks for the heads up! I definitely won’t fit into any of their jeans. Butts ftw!
