Cougar Boots – Portico Brown

Since my review for last year’s Cougar Boots vanished (along with other 300+ articles) from the site, I no longer have the evidence to show the results from my waterproof test or how fun it was to jump in the tub and drench those boots with water. I had the Ringo Star 2 (made from patent/nylon) and they had a waterproof guarantee for a reason.

I initially wanted to do a friction test in the rain but due to a birthday filled week and a blog post deadline, I had to settle for a regular review for now. Check out this random video I put together to show off the Portico Brown boots.

The Montana Leather is a lot darker in person than it is on the website (which is a great thing) and the suede adds a nice casual touch for any occasion. Plus tall boots are the official go-to shoes to dress up any outfit and they flatter every one. Yes, I’m warning you now: I’m pretty sure these boots will replace my suede Steve Maddens and become my fall/winter staple.

Even though I did the waterproof experiment on my Ringo Star 2′s, I was curious about the waterproof guarantee with suede. After the video, I poured water from my bottle and while the suede was wet, my feet remained dry. Just make sure your laces are tied up tightly and comfortably so the water doesn’t sneak past the tongue. And when the rain is here, maybe I’ll run around or jump into a puddle and see how long my feet will stay dry in these Cougar Boots. Until then, I’m pretty happy with these boots. Petra Collins – The Girls of TO

Eighteen year old Petra Collins has been buzzed about quite often lately. I’ve been seeing her work all over the web. Having just graduated from high school, she has a very raw sense of photographing teen girls from Toronto. What I love about her work is that even though she glamorizes the looks, it doesn’t look completely fake like in many magazines today; it still has a natural effect to it. And they’re oh so dreamy…

Joanna Hillman

Although she may look like a model (her mother was though), Toronto-born Joanna Hillman is the Senior Fashion Market Editor of Harper’s Bazaar. Having studied art history at the University of Western Ontario, she now resides in New York where her style has been captured many times in the streets. For a while she was the Senior Fashion Market Director of Teen Vogue, but has now moved on to Harper’s Bazaar where she covers the latest trends of around the world. I think that her choice of clothes are just impeccably perfect, I LOVE it! And so, I’ve found a few pictures of my favourite outfits of hers…

Alana Zimmer

Born and raised in Ontario, she is traveling the world, appearing everywhere in shows such as Chanel & Givenchy, as well as being featured in Vogue & Numero.

The past few months have definitely been busy for her, as she is featured in Vogue Russia’s August issue (images below). As well, she is the new face of Hermes for their F/W 2011 campaign, which is photographed by one of the greatest – Nick Knight. It will be Christophe Lemaire’s first collection/campaign after replacing Jean-Paul Gaultier as the Creative Director of Hermés, and by looking at the pictures, I’m quite excited!

So here is the lovely Alana for Vogue Russia’s August 2011 issue.

Oh my god, I love the jackets.

Canadian photographer, Kathy Lo has a style of pictures that I live for. Raw, deep, and lots of fun; almost documentary like. Having studied at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, she now lives in NYC, living in a Buddhist temple. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Vogue and i-D. Lingerie and swimwear are things that we just need, but designers Maayan Zilberman & Nikki Dekker bring a whole new definition to the word “lingerie”. I’m trying to think of what style they would fit into, but they pretty much cover everything; modern, traditional, seductive, and sporty, all at the same time.

Below are images of their spring summer collection for 2011. What I loved about this photo shoot was the theme & the styling. The witch/ritual theme gives the lingerie a whole other meaning on its own.
